Allyson Felix
Allyson Michel Felix was born November 18, 1985. Her birthplace was Los Angeles. Her father Paul Felix is an ordained minister at Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix was able to show an early interest in sports as she was studying at Los Angeles Baptist High School. Felix discovered her athletic talent at that when she was just a teenager. Within 10 weeks of her first tryout she came in second place in the 200 meter event during the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. In 2003 Felix was a senior in high school having signed a professional contract with the athletics company Adidas prior to matriculating at the University of Southern California where she was studying elementary education. One year later Felix was awarded her debut Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece and set an all-time junior world record sprinting 200 meters within 22.18 seconds. Felix became the world's youngest champion in the 200m in the Helsinki World Championships and defended her title in 2007, beating her long-time Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix always placed at the top of the podium across her diverse events during the Olympics that took place in Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo.
